Fitment & compatibility
- How do I know a part actually fits my car?
- Set your vehicle at the top of any page — year, model and engine — and the whole catalogue filters to it. On a part page you get a straight verdict: fits, does not fit, or fits with a caveat we spell out. Fitment is keyed to the generation rather than the year, because a 1972 and a 1973 C10 are two different trucks and a 1967 and a 1972 are very nearly the same one.
- My car has been modified. Does the fitment data still apply?
- Assume not. Fitment assumes a factory configuration, and a classic that has been on the road for fifty years rarely is one. Engine swaps, disc conversions, later spindles, dropped spindles, axle swaps and aftermarket wheels all change what bolts up. Tell us what has been changed and we will check the part against it before we ship.
02
Shipping & freight
- Why is this panel freight-only?
- Anything over roughly 70 inches or 150 pounds cannot go parcel — fenders, bed sides, tailgates, bumpers, fuel tanks, glass and axle assemblies. Those items are flagged in the listing and at checkout, and only LTL freight or counter collection will be offered for them.
- How should I receive a freight shipment of sheet metal?
- Inspect it with the driver present and note any damage on the delivery paperwork before you sign. A freight claim is very hard to win afterwards, and a fender with a crease in it is scrap. If the pallet looks wrong, refuse it — we would far rather ship you another one.
03
Returns & core charges
- What is a core charge?
- A refundable deposit on a remanufactured unit — steering boxes, alternators, distributors, master cylinders. It is listed separately on the part page, in the cart and on your invoice. Send the old unit back in the box the new part arrived in, using the prepaid label included, and it is refunded in full. There is no time limit, but the core must be rebuildable.
- Can I return a part that does not fit?
- Within 90 days, unused and in its original packaging, yes. If our fitment data was wrong we pay the return freight both ways and we correct the record. If the part was ordered against the wrong year or a prior modification we did not know about, return freight is yours.
04
Warranty
- What does the warranty cover on a reproduction part?
- Manufacturing defects and premature failure for the period stated on the listing. It does not cover the fitting labour, and on reproduction sheet metal it does not cover the trimming and adjustment that panel fitting always involves — no reproduction panel drops on without work, and any supplier who tells you otherwise has not fitted one.
05
Payment
- Do you offer trade terms?
- Yes. Restoration shops, body shops and trimmers can apply for a net-30 trade account. Pick 'Trade account' at checkout, or contact the counter and we will set it up before your first order.
06
General
- Can you source something you do not list?
- Usually. Between the reproduction houses, the NOS network and the swap-meet trade we can find most things. Send the casting number, the part number off the old part, or a photograph with something for scale, and we will tell you honestly whether it exists and what it costs.
- Do you ship outside the United States?
- We ship parcel to Canada, Mexico, the UK, Australia and most of the EU — classic American iron has an audience everywhere. Freight items are quoted case by case. Duties and taxes are the buyer's responsibility and are not collected at checkout.
